Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In God’s great mercy he has caused us to be born again into a living hope, because Jesus Christ rose from the dead.

1 Peter 1:3 (NCV)

This book in the Bible speaks of how God can use difficulties to strengthen us as believers. Jesus’ sacrifice and His victory over death opens the way for us to enter into relationship with God. When we accept Jesus as our personal saviour, we are reborn; this means we are free from what has gone before so that it does not hold us back from experiencing life and relationship with God. It does not guarantee plain sailing, nor that we will get everything right of course, but the living hope that Peter refers to comes from the Greek term for ‘hope’, which translates to ‘an eager, confident expectation’ in our living, resurrected saviour.

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your sacrifice and Your love for me. Help me to desire an eagerness and an expectation to experience something new with You today and for each day to come. Lord Jesus, You are my hope and I thank You for being with me in every situation. Amen.
